Exhibition: Our Irish Chair: Tradition Revisited

16 traditional and modern interpretations of a distinctive Irish chair type feature in this fascinating new exhibition at the National Museum of Ireland - Country Life in Mayo. With its triangular seat and a narrow back that is immediately distinctive. the Tuam or Sligo chair has an enduring appeal that has inspired makers and designers for decades. Collected by the Museum for almost a century, their Tuam/Sligo chairs are on display together for the first time, alongside a number of modern interpretations - find out more here.

Event: The Puca Festival

The spirit of Púca is back, bringing mischief and merriment! From 23 – 31 October, the Púca festival takes place across Counties Meath and Louth and, for the first time, Slane Castle is joining in the fun, alongside the festival hubs of Athboy, Trim and Drogheda, each steeped in Samhain legend and tradition for a week of music and mythology, sideshows and standup, cabaret and and everything else in between, with the mighty Jerry Fish bringing his popular Electric Sideshow to Trim Castle Hotel for a three-night stand from October 29th - 31st - find out more here.

Acclaimed for his TV roles in Misfits, Love/Hate and The Umbrella Academy, actor Robert Sheehan makes the leap to the page with his darkly amusing literary debut, subtitled A Host of Other Characters in 16 Short Stories and informed by the peripatetic life of the travelling actor. He's also coming to The Gate Theatre next February, starring alongside comic Frankie Boyle in a revival on Samuel Beckett's Endgame...
