Unlike the sleepy awakening of a Sunday at home, here in Italy the day of rest begins with bustle as customers clamour for seats outside the local pasticceria. They're loud, impatient and hungry... a wee man enters, linking the arm of his son who then gently guides him to a seat. I remind myself how funny it is I still use 'wee’ for 'small' - an expression I have carried from home. And there it is, that sudden pang of homesickness...
