I go to Old Drumcliffe Graveyard on the outskirts of Ennis a lot — not out of any morbid curiosity with the dead, but to pay respects to loved ones and cast a strangers' gaze at others, day-dreaming about the lives they might have led... Family brought me here first, nearly a decade ago when my father-in-law Paddy Honan passed away in his nineties. On that first visit I came across another grave, just 30 or so yards up the hill.
