Aoife Nic Cormaic introduces some of the best interviews and features from the popular Irish traditional music show on RTÉ Radio 1 - listen above.

‘A Creator of Friendships’ is how Tom Mulligan is described in the sleeve notes of the latest CD of music from the Cobblestone Bar, The Thursday Sessions.

Tom Mulligan has been running the Cobblestone in Dublin for about 30 years and in that time the pub has deservedly earned a reputation as one of the best Irish traditional music venues in Dublin. Over those years some fantastic music has been played in the Cobblestone and many friendships have been formed there too.

This interview with Tom was recorded last summer before any of us had even imagined what was to come in 2020. Listening to Tom talk about music and about The Cobblestone reminds us how great live music is and also of all we have to look forward to again when these Covid 19 days are behind us.

Music sessions like the ones that happen in The Cobblestone are about much more than tunes and it’s nice to celebrate the people, like Tom, who create the space and the environment for the magic to happen. We owe them a lot and look forward to seeing them again soon.
