The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and Contemporary Music Centre presented world premieres of Wah-man by Maria Minguella and Three’s Company by Anne-Marie O’Farrell, to mark the culmination of Composer Lab 2018, presented live from Studio 1 in the RTÉ Radio Centre.

Now in its third year, Composer Lab provides a creative, open environment to composers to deepen their understanding of writing for the full forces of a symphony orchestra.

Using their works-in-progress as a starting point, composers participate in one-to-one mentoring sessions with the mentor composer, and with section leaders of the orchestra. This is followed by a public workshop with the full orchestra, mentor composer and conductor, during which they receive feedback before revising and finally submitting their works for public performance.
