Tony O’Reilly was a late-starter when it came to gambling.
He made his first bet in 1998 at the age of 24: £1 on a football match. He got £46 in return, "nearly half a week’s wages". In 2011, Tony was arrested for stealing over €1,000,000 from his employer, An Post, to pay for his gambling debt. He joined Ray D’Arcy tell him what happened between that first, seemingly innocuous, bet and the estimated €10,000,000 he lost to gambling.
His story is detailed in the new book, Tony 10: The astonishing story of the postman who gambled €10,000,000... and lost it all, co-written with author Declan Lynch and published by Gill..
