Together, our 31 local authorities have an annual budget of more than €5bn and employ around 30,000 people. In planning, the environment, housing, and various public services, the actions of local authorities impact on all our lives.
We have looked at each local authority and highlighted certain issues, including allegations of fraud, corruption, waste of public money, mismanagement, and lack of oversight and accountability.
In a small number of cases, we did not find any new or previously unreported issues – those councils are shaded in grey.
