RTÉ The History Show - Easter 1916: The Trials

Posted 01/08/2016

After the rebellion came the trials and executions. Most of the trials of the rebels lasted twenty minutes or less, the prisoners were not legally represented and they were not permitted to give sworn evidence in their own defence.

Lorcan Clancy speaks to Sean Enright, a judge and legal historian who will be speaking at Trinity College Dublin on Easter Monday. Sean is the author of the book Easter Rising 1916: The Trials, a comprehensive study of the surviving trial records.
