Child mortality in Dublin soars
Dublin, 31 May 1915 - The abnormally high mortality rate of children in Dublin was considered at a conference on child welfare held in the theatre of the Royal Dublin Society at Leinster House today.
The numbers of deaths of children in the first quarter of the year rose from 144 per 1,000 to 181 per 1,000. There were general fears expressed that the summer months would see the numbers climb still higher.
