Activity at airports, ports, railway stations and on the roads make for a busy August bank holiday weekend.
Holidaymakers are making the most of the long weekend up and down the country.
Airports were busy as visitors flew in for the August Bank Holiday weekend with most of the passengers arriving at Dublin Airport from Britain. Shannon Airport was also busy with transatlantic visitors arriving in a Ireland for a longer stay.
Hitchhikers were also out in force as the roads up and down the country saw heavy traffic.
Railway lines too were busy with thousands of passengers travelling by train..
