Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie spends a short time at Shannon Airport en route to Washington.

Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie spends an hour in Shannon Airport on his way to Washington for talks with President Lyndon B Johnson.

The Emperor and his entourage leave the Ethiopian Air Lines plane for a few moments to speak to the welcome party gathered on the tarmac. Among the well wishers is a man holding a small dog.

Haile Selassie returns to the aircraft and invites members of the press on board where they interview him in his private suite.

Haile Selassie last visited Shannon Airport in 1954. He will spend four days in the United States of America.
