Events held in Dublin commemorate Rory O'Connor, Liam Mellows, Joe McKelvey and Dick Barrett executed in 1922.
The Minister for Defence Michael Hilliard and former Taoiseach and leader of Fianna Fáil Seán Lemass are among those attending the 1922 Four Courts garrison annual mass in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Dublin Castle for Rory O'Connor, Liam Mellows, Joe McKelvey and Dick Barrett.
On 8 December 1922 these four republican prisoners were executed by a Free State firing squad in Mountjoy Prison in reprisal for assassination of Pro-Treaty Teachtaí Dála (TD) Sean Hales.
Following mass, about 100 men marched from the Castle Yard to Glasnevin Cemetery where a wreath is laid on the grave of Rory O'Connor.
