Biker Eibhlín Ní Luineacháin is making her mark on the predominantly male world of motorbike racing.
'Echo Island' special reporter Fiona de Barra braves the cold weather and heads to County Kildare where she visits Mondello Park, the home of Irish short circuit motorcycle racing.
Making her second appearance at Mondello Park is biker Eibhlín Ní Luineacháin. She has been riding motorbikes since she was 15 years of age. and competing in motorbike drag racing since 1992, reaching the semi finals or finals on many occasions.
The bike Eibhlín Ní Luineacháin uses for drag depends on the race, and the top speed she reaches is dependent on the bike. However she reckons this is in the region of 130 or 135 miles per hour.
Eibhlín Ní Luineacháin is not bothered about being the only woman on the track. When the competitors are all wearing the mandatory protective clothing and helmets, everyone is the same.
Nuair a bhíonn tú ar an track táimid go leir mar an gcéanna.
Eibhlín Ní Luineacháin is usually not scared before a race and chooses not to dwell on any fears she might have. With the race about to begin Fiona de Barra wishes Eibhlín Ní Luineacháin the best of luck.
