The Community Games are more popular than ever.
The games are now in their twelfth year and have become so popular that the national finals have to played out over two weekends.
The rain came down but the athletes ploughed on.

Competitors come from 900 community areas across 32 counties. However, this year, due to the troubles in Northern Ireland, there are no teams from counties Derry, Antrim or Tyrone.
Apart from sport, there are also art competitions, just one of a variety of non-sporting activities on offer. There are also sporting competitions for children with disabilities. Gerry O'Reilly who holds the 100 metres world record once again won today in the disabled races as part of the Garda Síochána Annual Sports in Santry.
