Welcome home for Irish gold medal winners at the World Rowing Championships.

Two of Ireland's four gold medal winners at the World Rowing Championships arrived home to a hero’s welcome. Gearóid Towey and Sam Lynch were welcomed back by supporters at Cork and Shannon airports respectively.

24 year old Gearóid Towey took gold in the World lightweight coxless pairs final along with Tony O’Connor. He describes their victory as incredible and says it has not really sunk in yet.

At Shannon Airport, 25 year old Sam Lynch who won gold in the single lightweight skulls is delighted and surprised by the welcome he has received.

When you come home to a reception like this, you really feel you’ve achieved something.
