More than 40 bands take part in the 21st All Ireland Pipe Band Championships in Cork.
The Guinness sponsored All-Ireland Pipe Band Championships is taking place at Musgrave Park the first time the competition is staged in Cork. Previously the venue has alternated between Dublin and Belfast. Minister for Finance Jack Lynch is 'Chieftain of the Day' at the event.
Bands from all over Ireland are participating in the Championships, including more than 30 bands from Northern Ireland. The Toronto City Pipe Band has travelled all the way from Canada to compete.
The Armstrong Memorial Band, Belfast is declared the winner of the All-Ireland Senior Championship and drummer John Walsh, of the same group, wins the drum major award.
