Christmas trees in Glenealy County Wicklow.

The biggest selling Christmas tree sold in Ireland these days is the Noble fir, a pine tree from the north west coast of America. The Norwegian spruce tree used to be the favourite, but with the introduction of central heating its popularity has waned, as it sheds its needles in the heat.

Another type of Christmas tree which hails from western North America is the Lodgepole pine, which is much thicker and bushier, and is often sold with pine cones still on the branches.
