Thousands of Christians attend the fifth Charismatic Renewal conference at the RDS in Dublin.

Charismatics have travelled from all over Ireland, England and the United States for this year's conference, the theme of which is 'Unite All Things In Christ’. Catholics are in the majority, but other Christian churches are also represented.

Hymn singing, scripture reading, masses and workshops make up large parts of the three-day conference programme, which is organised by the National Service Committee for Catholic Charismatic Renewal.

There are also guest speakers on topics such as contemporary spirituality, married life, and prayer in the family, and today was designated youth day.

Generally the atmosphere is described as one big picnic.

One of today’s speakers is Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin Dermot O'Mahony. He called on young people to work for unity in the family, at work and in the world.
