What famous society was responsible for founding the Dublin Chamber of Commerce?
Alec Newman answers that the Dublin Chamber of Commerce was established in 1783 by the Ouzel Galley Society. Membership of the society was drawn from among the city's politicians and businessmen and included Arthur Guinness. For more information on the Ouzel Galley Society, he points to a book by George Little of The Old Dublin Society.
'Information Please' was broadcast every Wednesday at 7.30pm. Questions were to be sent by post to Information Please, Radio Éireann, GPO, Dublin. It was also requested that answers be supplied along with the source of information.
