A millennium art work plans to cover the Carlton Cinema in Dublin with bamboo.
Workers from Hong Kong will erect scaffolding made from bamboo around the disused Carlton Cinema in Dublin's O'Connell Street. The project is the idea of Belfast based artist Dan Shipsides and has been chosen as the £100,000 Nissan Art Project for the Millennium.
Called 'Bamboo Support’ it’s intended to highlight the major redevelopment of Dublin as a gateway to Europe in attracting overseas development.
The Carlton cinema opened in Dublin 1920 and closed in 1994.
