The tax man is the target of Mike Murphy and friends with their version of a Village People hit.

'The Live Mike' regulars Mike Murphy, Twink and Dermot Morgan are joined by others from the world of entertainment in this rendition of Village People's 1978 hit 'YMCA'.

You give it all to the PAYE.

In the late 1970s and early 1980s, a series of protests took place across Ireland as PAYE workers took to the streets in objection to the tax system. This interpretation of the Village People's YMCA sees the words being changed to PAYE as a homage to the protests.

The singing ensemble features Dermot Morgan as a sailor, Sean Dunphy as a cowboy, Twink as a construction worker, Mike Murphy a native American Indian, Larry Gogan as a policeman and Liam Nolan as leatherman.

The Live Mike broadcast on 29 February 1980.

'The Live Mike’ ran on RTÉ between 1979 and 1983 and combined music, comedy sketches, and studio guests.
