Singer and actor Meat Loaf offers one explanation about getting his name.

Singer and actor Meat Loaf talks about his weight loss, his name, achieving success in music, and the women in his life.

You can just call me Meat or you can call Mister Loaf if you want.

When asked about the origins of his name, he says he has a number of stories but his favourite is that he left the front wheel of a Volkwagon roll over his head for a hundred dollars. After he did that, people began to say he had meat loaf for brains and the name stuck.

That's not really how I got my name but it's a real story.
