Pet food factory workers in Ballyfermot celebrate a National Lottery win of almost 7 million euro.
The eight members of the Gear Box Syndicate turned up for work on the Merops Nutrition pet food factory in the Ballymount Industrial Estate as usual on Monday morning, unaware of the good news which awaited them later in the day.
Syndicate member Graham Finnerty had heard that the weekend rollover jackpot ticket had been bought in Ballyfermot, and checked the numbers. Having done the weekly draw for eight years using the same numbers, he is delighted with such a big windfall,
I used to be like everyone else, you always dream about winning the Lotto.
This group of factory workers will get almost €900,000 each. There are no immediate plans to quit their jobs. No decisions have been made on how they might spend their winnings, with most of the eight saying they will go back to work.
