The GAA announces plans to introduce a no smoking policy at Croke Park.

Smoking will not be permitted in any areas of the Croke Park stadium and the ban takes place immediately. The no smoking policy is expected to be applied to other GAA stadia in the near future.

GAA President Sean Kelly acknowledges that the new rules may be difficult for smokers initially but believes they will come to terms with it to create a smoke free atmosphere for all. The new rules are seen as an extension of the ban on smoking in restaurants and pubs.
