Unions not keen on new technology which allows the continuous observation of the position of buses in Dublin.

The network is connected to a device in the bus driver's cab. Drivers can take instructions from his bus depot by radio telephone depending on traffic flows at any given time.

The new traffic monitoring technology allows the CIE traffic manager to see the location of each bus and is updated every minute. The system shows both the scheduled position of each bus as well as the actual position.

We have a complete picture of where the buses are throughout the day.

The system allows CIE to monitor the performance of buses throughout the day as well as being a method of quickly communicating with drivers.
