Awards for bravery and new officers commissioned at ceremony at Haulbowline naval base in Cork.
Minister for Defence Patrick Cooney was in Haulbowline for a ceremony marking the achievements of Chief Petty Officer Patrick Tumelty from Cobh and Petty Officer Michael McIntyre from Offaly who were awarded for their bravery during a fire on board the Aisling in 1981.
Ceremonies also took place to commission nine new cadets of the 25th class into the navy.
