An animated 3D video showing the history of Dublin over almost a thousand years is to be sent to schools throughout the capital.

We see how it developed from a simple Viking fort to a walled city under the Normans to its further expansion under British rule.

The video chronicling the history of Dublin is to be distributed to every primary school in Dublin. It was researched by up to twenty historians and archaeologists and took over two years to complete. The video explores some of the key buildings and colourful characters of the city and is to be used as an educational tool.

Among the first to see the film were pupils from St Audoen's National School located in what was once the heart of medieval Dublin.

You'd learn more from this than you would from a book and it's much better than most movies.

We're pretty happy that we've got an accurate presentation of Dublin's past.
