For over one hundred years Listowel has been hosting a horse racing meeting.

Visitors to the Listowel Races have plenty to keep them entertained with live music and a fun fair. Traditionally people have come to the races as a celebration after the harvest and the last outing before the winter. For others the races were a stopping off point on the way home from the Lisdoonvarna Festival.

Despite the recession and a tough times for farmers, the bookmakers are kept busy with races goers hoping for some good luck.
