Children put on a show of Irish dancing at Croke Park.
Fleadh Nua, organised by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, takes place on the June Bank Holiday Weekend 5-7 June 1971 and has all the ingredients to be a major national cultural event.
Groups of small children dance on the Croke Park pitch during one of the Fleadh events.
Children Dancing in Croke Park (1971)
Paddy Glackin in period costume and top hat plays fiddle for the dancers before raising the shafts of a cart to hold it steady to allow a small boy to dance on it.
Fleadh organisers in 1971 hope that twice the number of people will be in attendance for the second year of the new style of festival. Over 10,000 people attended last year's event which was a resounding success.
