Each year a Christmas art holiday for children takes place at the National Gallery of Ireland.
This is the eighteenth year of the event which attracts pupils from far and wide to learn from the masters. The classes are designed for those aged eight to eighteen.
Various artists do work in front of the children and they copy, either in the same medium or in a different medium.
Artist Patrick Hickey explains that the course shows children that the gallery is a living place, rather than a dead museum, and they get into the habit of visiting the gallery.
