Prayers take place at the gates of RTÉ in Donnybrook in protest at the appearance on the Late Late Show of the authors of a book on the subject of convent sexuality.

Presenter of The Late Late Show, Gay Byrne, interviewed two lesbian ex-nuns and some viewers were not happy.

The two American authors Nancy Manahan and Rosemary Curb were in Ireland to promote their book ‘Breaking Silence: Lesbian Nuns on Convent Sexuality’.

At the time, the programme had RTÉ’s highest TAM rating, attracting both praise and condemnation at the same time.

Protesters held a prayer vigil outside the RTÉ studios in protest over the interviews.
