Annual ritual of preparing for the Galway May Fair.

The Naomh Éanna ferry sailed for 30 years between Galway and the Aran Islands before it was taken out of action in 1986. It carried passengers and cargo of all descriptions. The 'Guth na Gaeilge' team board the ship for a special cattle-fair trip in this extract from 1965. The Naomh Éanna heads for Kilronan Harbour on Inis Mór, where local cattle are lowered into the hold for transportation to the annual May Fair in Galway.

Déantar an obair le luas agus le scil a thagann le taithí na mblianta.... Fíor-annamh a tharlaíonn an timpiste is lú.

This edition of 'Guth na Gaeilge' was broadcast on 30 May 1965.
