Training with the Irish Navy Service at Haulbowline County Cork.

I just had an urge to go to sea. I wanted to do it. It was an ambition.

The crew of the L.E. Emer line up on deck as the vessel heads out to sea. Recruits tell reporter Cianna Campbell about why they decided to join the navy and the recruitment process.

Back on shore at the naval training base in Haulbowline we see a training drill. Officers and crew of the Irish Naval Service, Mick Smullen, Tony Hughes, Alan Kennan, Eugene Cloonan, Captain Jordan, Dermot Woods and Frank Allen all feature in the programme.

I joined straight from school... I didn't really know what to expect
