In 1999 RTÉ News visited the opening of the Galway Film Fleadh to meet a mixture of makers and shakers in the movie and television world as well as the "wannabes".

It is an opportunity for film-makers to showcase their work to their peers, investors and the public. This is an event that is about both the art of film-making as well as the commerce. This report features programme director Pat Collins and film producer Arthur Lappin.

The 1999 event had sixty feature films, including eleven world premieres, as well as seminars and master classes in film production.

This report by Colm Connolly was first broadcast on the 9 July 1999.
