An Bord Pleanála has set a new target date of 25 May 2018 for a decision on Indaver Ireland's controversial plans for an incinerator in Cork Harbour.

CHASE – the Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment - received notification of the new date yesterday.

This is the tenth time a decision date on the controversial incinerator has been re-scheduled.

A decision on plans to build a €160 million, 240,000-tonnes-a-year waste-to-energy facility at Ringaskiddy in Cork Harbour had been expected on 28 February.

The Strategic Infrastructure Development planning application was first lodged  in January 2016.

An oral hearing took place in April/May that year, and a ruling was due on 12 July 2016.

It is the third time since 2001 that Indaver has applied to build an incinerator in Ringaskiddy.
