Mel C denies Spice Girls are playing at royal wedding
Mel C has poured cold water on reports that the Spice Girls are playing at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding this May, saying Mel B was "having a bit of a joke" when she said they had been invited to perform.
Speaking during an appearance on US talk show The Real last week, Mel B appeared to let slip that the Spice Girls would be performing at the royal wedding.
Speaking to The Sun newspaper at The Prince's Trust Awards on Tuesday, Mel C laughed off the wedding reports, saying: "I’ve met Prince Charles lots of times. I’m going to ask him where my invite is because I haven’t got mine yet, obviously Mel B said she has hers.
"I think Mel was just kind of having a bit of a joke. There are no plans to go to the wedding at the moment."
Further dampening fans spirits, Mel C also confirmed that Victoria Beckham is not on board for a reunion tour, following their manager Simon Fuller saying "five may become four".
She said: "Victoria has been quite vocal, it’s really not something she wants to do at this time.
"I think it has to be all five, so it’s tricky."
At the start of February, all five Spice Girls were photographed together for the first time in six years leading to a frenzy of speculation online that they were going to be working together again. They later confirmed they are planning to reunite to work on some "incredible new opportunities".
However, Mel C has given further insight into their plans, saying she Victoria Beckham, Geri Horner, Emma Bunton and Melanie Brown will not tour this year.
"It’s very early stages, we’re not talking about new music or going out on the road together at this time," she said.
"It was just getting together to reignite all the things that we have had together and to work with Simon."
When asked about rumours that the quintet would be taking to the stage at London Pride, she said: "That would be a very fitting place for the Spice Girls to reform but unfortunately I don’t think you’ll be seeing the Spice Girls on stage this year."
The singer added that she will be concentrating on her solo career, saying: "There will be new music but just me. I’m making an album which will be out later this year.
"We’re all just dead busy. So if anything were to happen, it wouldn’t be now."
