Gallagher sold some 30 million albums worldwide, and retains a massive following in Europe - here he is in his prime, performing signature tune Going To My Hometown on German TV in 1972.

Enjoy a truly epic performance of the mighty Bullfrog Blues, recorded for BBC music institution The Old Grey Whistle Test live at the Shepherd's Bush Empire on Gallagher's 28th birthday - 02 March, 1976.

A real treat to round things off - watch this brilliant German documentary from 1978, offering an intimate look at a notoriously private individual, on his home turf - we suggest you forward to 22:00 to see exactly how a proper rock star should arrive at a music festival.
