It's one of the most popular TV shows in the world, and has brought the stunning vistas of County Wicklow to audiences across the globe, while showcasing the talents of our finest thespians - and providing steady employment to hundreds of very hairy Irishmen.

Now a new photo exhibition at Bray's Mermaid Arts Centre offers a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes of RTÉ 2 ratings smash Vikings, the bold and bloody Nordic saga currently shooting its sixth season in nearby Ashford Studios. The images, by official photographers Jonathan Hession and Bernard Walsh, capture the massive collective endeavor required to produce a large-scale television epic - on average, each season of Vikings employs a cast and crew of more than 700 people.

The exhibition, a collaboration between the County Wicklow Film Commission, Vikings Executive Producer Morgan O’Sullivan and The Mermaid Arts Centre, opens this Thursday (February 22nd) at The Mermaid, with Vikings star Moe Dunford in attendance, and runs until Saturday 17th March - find out more here.
