James McCarthy

Here's the man of the match's take on it.

An odd kind of win

So Ireland won and had the try bonus point wrapped up before the break against an Italy side that had been reduced to 14 men after Jacopo Bianchi's early red card. Then they went to sleep in the second half and allowed the visitors right back into it.

Bizarrely they were holding on at the end and Italy walk away with two bonus points - for scoring four tries and for finishing within seven points of the winners.

Full-tlme Ireland 38 Italy 34

That was far closer than was expected - particularly as Italy were down to 14 men for more than 70 minutes. They won the second half 19-7.

Penalty Ireland

And that will be that.
