The Pakman judging panel commented that "RTÉ’s entry was exceptional in terms of presentation, measurable impacts and overall buy-in from stakeholders. RTÉ has shown great leadership and advocacy of environmental sustainability. RTÉ delivers excellent waste management and recycling, not only because it makes good business sense but also because it is the right thing to do."  RTÉ was also awarded the Professional Services Award on the night.

Commenting on the award, Eileen Duggan, RTÉ Property and Services Executive said, "It is a great honour and we are thrilled to receive this very prestigious award which recognises RTE’s sustained commitment to high standards of environmental performance.  The award gives formal recognition to the work done by myself, my colleagues and our environmental partners.  As Ireland’s public service media, this public acknowledgement of RTÉ’s efforts in the field of environmental performance is consistent with our own mission; to be a responsible, sustainable and trusted organisation which continues to reflect and enrich Irish life"

On the work done by RTÉ, Séamus Clancy, CEO of Repak said: "The award for RTÉ is in acknowledgement of the excellence in recycling initiatives demonstrated by the institution at large. The company contributes to community and society with a corporate and social responsibility program that is exemplary. They are setting the standards for others to follow."
