Presenter for New RTÉ Morning News Programme Announced
18 December 2012: RTÉ announced today that highly-experienced reporter and presenter, Keelin Shanley, will present its new two-hour morning RTÉ News programme, starting in the New Year.
Its programme Editor will be Anthony Murnane who is currently RTÉ’s Deputy Foreign Editor. The programme will begin broadcasting from late January on weekday mornings on both RTÉ One and the digital channel RTÉ News Now between 9.00 and 11.00am.
Keelin Shanley has worked as a journalist and presenter in RTÉ for over fifteen years and has won a number of awards for her work; including three IFTAs, a National Media, a Law Society and a Radharc award. Working with RTÉ’s flagship current affairs television programme, Prime Time, she has made a number of investigative social documentaries and has also covered stories in a several developing countries. She also presents RTÉ's The Consumer Show. Keelin has previously worked as a News reporter for Radio France International and for CNN World Report.
Anthony Murnane is currently Deputy Foreign Editor and a news presenter with RTÉ News. He has worked across the RTÉ News division since joining the organisation as a journalist in 1991. Anthony's foreign assignments have included the UK elections 2010, the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in New York and the state visit to New Zealand by President McAleese in 2007. Anthony has presented RTÉ TV's main news bulletins and was on air for the live coverage of the 9/11 attacks on the United States in 2001.
