VIKING COSTUME COMPETITION

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

These Terms and Conditions apply to the competition which shall be run in conjunction with Scandinavian Airlines & Visit Denmark (the Sponsors) on RTÉ.ie during July and August 2007.  

By entering the Competition, competitors agree to release, discharge and hold harmless RTÉ and/or the Sponsors and their respective officers, employees and agents from any and all damages whether direct or indirect, which may arise out of participation in the Competition or any portion thereof, or the acceptance, use/issue or possession of any prize.

1. Eligibility
No employee of RTÉ or its subsidiary or affiliated companies shall be eligible to enter. Neither shall any employee of the Sponsors (or a subsidiary or affiliated company of them) be eligible to enter the Competition.

All contestants must be over the age of 18.

Any entrants under 18 must have their entry submitted on their behalf by a parent or a guardian, and will only be accepted on this basis.

2. Conduct of the Competition
The Competition will be announced online (www.rte.ie/vikings) and entrants will be invited to submit a photo of their Viking costume. These may be submitted by email (vikingcontest@rte.ie). The closing date for receipt is Friday 3rd August, 2007 at 5pm. Late entries will not be accepted. All entries must be original. Only one entry per person will be accepted save as otherwise directed. 
On Friday 10th August, the top five finalists (as selected by the RTÉ.ie editorial team) shall be selected. Those five entrants will then be asked to appear on a Tuesday 14th August, 2007 live webcast to be held in front of Custom House in Dublin, Ireland.
           
In the event of any dispute, regarding the Terms and Conditions, conduct or the results of any Competition, the decision of RTÉ shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

3. Results
Online users will vote for their favourite costume of the five finalists. The winner will be announced as part of the webcast. 

4. Prize
The chosen winner will obtain the following prize sponsored by Scandinavian Airlines & Visit Denmark which will consist of:
Return flights from Dublin to Copenhagen for two people
Two nights' stay at Scandic Copenhagen including a large breakfast buffet

All prizes shall be awarded in the discretion of RTÉ and no correspondence will be entered into regarding any issue relating to prizes.

No prizes will be awarded as a result of improper actions by or on behalf of contestants, illegal or otherwise, and RTÉ and/or the Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any competitor who they believe has tampered with or has in any way corrupted the entry process.

No cash or other alternatives will be offered in place of specified prizes unless specified. RTÉ and/or he Sponsors may, at its own discretion, substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the featured prize becomes unavailable for any reason.
           
For the avoidance of doubt, as the prize includes a holiday, the Competitor and any guest are solely responsible for all insurance cover, medical checks, inoculation and other formalities that may be required in connection with any holiday and must have valid passports and must be available to travel at the times and dates indicated. All travel arrangements are to be made through the notified agent.

5. Limitation of Liability
Neither RTÉ, the Sponsors, nor their affiliated entities are responsible for printing or typographical errors in any material relating to the Competition, stolen, fraudulent, lost, late, misdirected, damaged, incomplete, altered or illegible entries or transactions which are processed late or incorrectly or are lost due to computer or technical malfunction.

Where the Competition is being conducted by RTÉ, with the prize being provided by the Sponsors, RTÉ and each of its affiliates, officers, agents and employees will have no liability or responsibility for any claim arising in connection with anyone entering this Competition. RTÉ is not liable for any disputes or problems concerning any prize provided by Sponsors and all queries should be directed to the Sponsors. RTÉ accepts no liability for any defects in or damage or loss occasioned by any prize or the failure of any Sponsors to provide a prize whether due to insolvency or otherwise.

6. General
RTÉ reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend a Competition and/or to vary these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be included in the Terms and Conditions which are available on request or posted within the RTÉ website.

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by the laws of Ireland and subject to the jurisdiction of the Courts of Ireland.
