Whistleblower is a deeply unsettling account of events from recent history but it also stands up as a compelling screen drama in its own right.

Translating complex and emotive issues to the screen, whilst maintaining responsibility to a factually based story, is a difficult tightrope to walk. For Rob, the writer, one of the main challenges was to decide how much he could contain in his script. For me the main challenge was to convey the facts and words in a real and believable way, even though at times the reality itself seemed incredible. Most of the facts about the Neary case are already in the public domain; what I hope we have captured is the human story.

If we have in some way reminded people of the enormity of the impact on some of these women and how these events affected them and their families, then we might have achieved something really worth watching within the constraints of a television drama.
