Galway based Maria-Elena Valverde returns to her hometown Lima and brings her Irish partner Aidan to meet the in-laws.
First introductions can be difficult at the best of times but Aidan has never been to Peru before, he doesn’t speak Spanish and by all accounts Maria-Elena’s father is a tough nut to crack. How will Aidan, whose travelling experience extends to France, cope in the heat, the frenetic pace of Lima and among an excitable Peruvian family.
Maria-Elena introduces Aidan to her father, her son and her sisters. Maria-Elena also gets to meet the new arrivals to the family – nieces and nephews born since the last time she was in Lima.
Living in Moycullen Maria-Elena has become quite the Connemara woman and is eager to give Aidan a real flavour of life in Lima by bringing him to local markets, football matches and salsa clubs. Maria-Elena and Aidan met at a salsa club in Salthill and Aidan is anxious to see how Salthill will compare to Lima! Will his fancy footwork hold up in front of the locals?!
