The Quinlan Family

The Quinlan family live in leafy Castleknock in Dublin city. This eight strong family are lead by Dad Michael, a solicitor and Mum Sarah, a dentist. The children are a mighty brood. Student Emma (23) is a part time club exotic dancer. A job she and 14ft Python snapper take very seriously. David (16), Pippa (14) and Daniel (13) are in secondary school and provide Aodhan with a handful of problems while eco-wise Julie-Ann is the erstwhile chef d’equipe of the household. She is the green warrior along with mum

The Quinlans live in a big house, 7000sq ft with a heated indoor pool and an always on hot tub. They have an annual energy bill of a whopping €20,000. They have 9 bedrooms and 9 ensuites. There is a games room with all mod cons and any number of televisions of various sizes in the house.

They have three gas guzzling cars and are addicted to using them. Only the three of the kids use public transport and Emma and Dad do not believe in leaving the car at home or taking the bus.

Mum Sarah has a lot to do if she wants to make this house green. But she is the force behind this drive for a more sustainable lifestyle. It’s not going to be easy. If they think turning off a couple of lights is going to make them pass the tests they have a big land awaiting them….

They have a long way to go and it looks like they will have to be dragged kicking and screaming every step of the way
