In this
programme Sharon talks about the family. Learn some words and phrases
that will help you say how many brothers and sisters you have, where
they are in the family and if you get on with them.
Sharon’s guest is Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, best known for her vocals and
fiddle playing with the internationally renowned group ALTAN. The group
takes its name from Loch Altan, a lake near Gweedore, Mairéad’s homeplace.
As well as Mairéad, Sharon meets her father, Francie Mooney and her
nephew Ciarán, who are all steeped in the Irish language and in Irish
Traditional music.

Sharon
moves on to Ionad Cois Locha, a heritage centre at the foot of Mount
Errigal. Founded and run by local people, the centre explores the traditions
of this part of Donegal. Here Sharon meets Gearóidín Breathnach and
her family - with a family of seven there is always plenty to talk about!
Music is the principal language of Mairead Ní Mhaonaigh and her family,
so for this week’s soundscape we listen to her play a traditional piece
of music with Francie and Ciaran.
In this
episode of ‘An Grá faoi Ghlás’ the contestants are all getting to know
each other a little better. . . but will there be love in the air?
