Laura has been adding a bit of sparkle to RTÉ Two's programming since 2003. These days she's co-presenting The Café with Aidan Power and also hosting her own Sunday morning show, S.M.S.
Laura landed her first gig in RTÉ when she was still at Trinity College studying French and Sociology. While in third year, she started as a continuity announcer - telling people what's on next.
Once she stepped into the studio environment, Laura realised she had found her calling - working in TV. After graduating from Trinity, she continued to juggle studying and Continuity Announcing as she completed a post grad course in journalism.
Laura's career choice is no real surprise as she has always had an interest in communications and entertainment. In Trinity she did two stints presenting the Breakfast Show on Trinity FM, was a member of the Trinity Players Drama Society and studied dance for 16 years.
Moving from continuity announcing, Laura became the face of ID, the ID+ show and then ID Two. In 2004 she joined Aidan to present The Café. Now in its third year, The Café is set to continue livening up your Thursday evenings with its fast paced, tongue-in-cheek humour and entertainment.
In between her regular shows, Laura presented Winning Streak from January to March 2006 while regular presenter Derek Mooney was off doing 'You're A Star' and she also hosted Fame & Fortune in June 2006.
Laura was also the anchor presenter on RTÉ's coverage of the Festival of World Cultures 2005 and 2006. In the summer of 2005 she joined Dave Fanning in Hyde Park to cover Live8 in July 2005.
One of aspects Laura loves about her work is the opportunity she gets to interview people from across the spectrum of entertainment, sport and lifestyle.
Laura has shown her versatility interviewing such celebrities as Joel Schumacher, Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Cate Blanchett, Roy Keane, Gordon D'Arcy and Dara O Briain not to mention 50 Cent!
