Keith Barry, Fran Cosgrave, The Blizzards
On The Café this Thursday, December 21st, Aidan and Laura chat to Keith Barry and Fran Cosgrave. The Blizzards perform their new single 'Fantasy' and Oliver Callan has some stand up comedy.
Keith Barry kicks off the New Year, 2007, with a new Irish tour of his show 'Keith Barry - Mental, A Mind Altering Experience'.
The show, which starts in Vicar street on January 19th and 20th, features new illusions as Keith mixes psychology, mentalism, neuro linguistics, instant induction hypnosis and magic.
It's been a busy year for Keith. He presented his first CBS primetime TV special, 'Keith Barry - Extraordinary', in the US where he performed illusions with the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Simpson and Elijah Wood. The CBS special coupled with his live shows in Hollywood has lead Keith to Las Vegas where he is due to get his own show in 2007.
In the New Year Keith is planning a Live Saturday Night TV Special in the UK.
Keith also made his acting debut this year on 'CSI Miami' in an episode called 'Open Water' where he played a thief and murder suspect.
Keith's tour takes him to Cork, Tipperary, Killarney, Ennis, Galway, Castlebar, Mullingar and Athlone. Click here for all the details.
Fran Cosgrave is a reality TV veteran. He won the first 'Celebrity Love Island' on ITV and was one of the final contestants on 'I'm A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here'. He has also appeared on Channel 4's 'Fool Around With My Girlfriend'.
Most recently Fran joined forces with his fellow Love Island contestant Calum Best for the ITV series 'Calum, Fran & Desperate Danan' where the three lads went to America to travel Route 66 in a 1960 Caddilac with only $200 between them. So they had to find jobs to earn a crust.
There's talk of a second seires - this time set in Australia.
Fran is teaming up with Shane Lynch (ex-Boyzone) in an extreme sports show in 2007. The pair are also appearing together on a Christmas special of 'The Weakest Link'(Dec 30th).
Aside from his TV work, Fran is a popular DJ in the UK. His debut single 'Jetsetter' was released earlier this year and his second single 'Electric Love' is due for release early in 2007.
Adding another string to his bow, Fran recently fronted a TV ad campaign for Telecom company Conduit to promote their 118 888 number. Plus his autobiography published recently in the UK went into reprint after three weeks.
The Blizzards have been nominated in two categories in this year's Meteor Music Awards.
On The Café they perform their new single 'Fantasy' which is due for release on February 9th. The single is taken from their debut album 'A Public Display of Affection'.

Pop-rockers The Blizzards are brewing up quite a storm. The Mullingar five-piece have already clocked up two Top 10 Irish hits ('Trouble' and 'Miss Fantasia Preaches') and have just released an acclaimed debut album. It is no wonder they are up for two Meteor Music awards in the Best Irish New Album and Best Irish New Act.
In 2004, school friends Niall Breslin (lead vocal/guitar), Dec Murphy (drums), Anthony Doran (bass) and Aidan Lynch (keyboards/acoustic guitar) joined forces with Justin Ryan (lead guitar) to form The Blizzards.
The band has proven their true grit through relentless touring which garnered them a growing fanbase and helped fuel their chart and airplay success. The music industry also took note and the band quickly signed to Universal Music Ireland.
'A Public Display of Affection' is produced by US producer Michael Beinhorn (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Soundgarden to name a few).
