Bronagh Gallagher, Ghostbusters, Nylon
Laura and Aidan welcome actress/singer Bronagh Gallagher and three Irish ghostbusters on to The Café on Thursday, October 26th. Plus Icelandic babes Nylon perform their new single Closer and Oliver Callan provides the comedy.
Bronagh Gallagher
For many Bronagh Gallagher will be most remembered as Bernie McGloughlin in Alan Parker's The Commitments.
However, the Derry woman has appeared in a rake of modern classics including Pulp Fiction and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. She has also starred alongside Julia Roberts in Mary Reilly; David Thewlis and Jason Isaacs in Divorcing Jack; and Brendan Gleeson in Wild About Harry.
She plays as a serial killer in her most recent film, the upcoming comedy horror 'Botched' which was filmed in Ireland during the summer. She tries to kill Stephen Dorff but doesn't succeed!
Other recent work includes Tristan and Isolde, Tara Road and Middletown. Plus she was Rats girlfriend in Spin the Bottle.
Not just a talented actress, Bronagh is an accomplished singer, songwriter and drummer. Her debut album, Precious Soul, is a mixture of country, blues and Celtic rock. Bronagh has been quietly gigging for the past year and a half with her band.
Following a sold out performance at the Festival of World Cultures in Dublin, Bronagh and her band were the headline act at The Hard Working Class Hero's Festival which took place in Dublin this month.
At the moment she's in the middle of moving back to England, where she will concentrate on her own music and has some acting work lined up.
Ghostbusters
Irish ghostbusters Paul Fennel, Ian Murphy and David Wenger are dedicated to busting ghosts through scientific explanation. Their goal is to prove or disprove the Paranormal through scientific research.
Since they set up The Paranormal Research Association Of Ireland, they have helped many people with unexplained phenomena in their homes and businesses by finding a natural cause for a supposed paranormal event.
Paul has written a book 'Haunted: A Guide To Paranormal Ireland' about his journey around Ireland researching its paranormal past. In it he treats us to a guide of the world of Ghosts, Spirits and Legends.
He also explains why ghosts appear to people and why they walk through walls. And there's a lesson on how to use certain scientific equipment to detect and record paranormal activity.
