One Minutes Junior Film Festival 2006
Well done to Darren Kennedy from Donegal and Francis Wasser from Dublin who won awards at the prestigious International One Minutes Junior Film Festival in November.
Francis (18) won first prize in the Self Portrait category for his film 'twentyfourseven'. Francis is a student at NCAD and his prize includes a digital camcorder.
Darren (18) won the inaugural One Minute Jr Festival People's Prize, as voted by young people all over Europe. The People's Prize was devised to give young Europeans the opportunity to select their favourite film from the 360 films that were submitted this year. Darren's film, 'Look Who's The Loser Now' was rated over 1,000 times. Darren also won a digital camcorder.
Also congratulations to Sinead Tyrell from Arklow who was nominated in the Best of the World category. All three attended the One Minutes Junior Film Festival which took place in Amsterdam from November 17-19th 2006.
The one minute films were originally made during last summer's One Minutes Jr workshop in RTÉ, which RTÉ Young Peoples staged in association with the One Minute Foundation.
20 Irish people between the ages of 16 and 20 were selected through open application and took part in the film-making workshop at RTÉ Television studios in Dublin in June 2006.
Over the week-long course, they explored all elements of film making, and subsequently produced their own one minute film.
